Berlin's children are numerous and often enough two or more of them meet unexpectedly only to discover that they are driven by the same obsessions.
It doesn't take long to find out what happens when these obsessions interact with each other to form something new and push musical boundaries. Being progressive is Authist & Dub One!'s main credo and what has made them develop their own style over the years. They are prolific remixers and even would remix a couple of Beethoven-tracks if only this wouldn't be considered impious.
Dub One! (born in 1972) once planned to become a jazz-pianist until he changed his mind after a visit to Quasimodo, a famous jazzclub in Berlin while Authist (born in 1978) started of as a DJ during during techno's heyday. The gig at Quasimodo's was short and embarrassing and working fulltime as a DJ proved to be extremely unhealthy.
But the observing listener of their laid-back dubs of today will still be able to clearly make out traces of these roots in their music.
